Memorial of the 412 coastal defense battery is located near the village of Chernomorskoye (Chabanka). The coastal battery No. 412 itself is the “twin brother” of the 411th battery, and was abandoned for a long time. The memorial appeared on its territory only in 2010. The 412th battery became a mass grave for a detachment of 250 Donetsk miners who arrived in besieged Odessa in August 1941. When the enemy broke through to the battery, it was this detachment that saved it from capture, and the city from devastating targeted shelling from heavy weapons. Nothing, but the miners had only knives, sapper shovels and five grenades per person from their weapons …
